SUMMARY: JOB DESCRIPTION:
This individual will play a key role as a production support application developer supporting the Business Rules System as well as multiple other applications, web servcies, and other components in of the Consumer Direct suite of applications. The individual selected will become a member of the Personal Insurance Production Applicatyion Services Division (PI-PASD) Customer Direct Systems Team. This position offers opportunities to utilize distributed coding and analysis skills, debugging skills, and other technical skillsets. The successful candidate will possess at least 3+ years of experience in the following technologies: Java, J2EE, Enterprise Java Beans (EJB), SQL , XML, experience in either of the WebSphere and/or JBOSS environments, C#.NET. Experience with Business Rules Engines is a plus. Additional experience with the Java Spring Framework, Autosys and Subversion (or other source code management software), and XSL is favorable. Knowledge of insurance and insurance systems would also be a plus.
This role requires working closely with other members within the production support team as well as multiple internal business customers. Support will include problem research, monitoring, communication escalation, minor enhancements and ongoing day to day production support activities to include on-call responsibilities. Other responsibilities will include continual application and process reviews as well as conducting any needed updates for production documentation, building of new alerts and monitoring procedures and cross training on other supported systems on an as directed basis.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Support primarily for the Business Rules System as well as select web services. Additional support will be provided for other applications in the Consumer Direct space. Work will include, but not be limited to, the following:
=> Smaller enhancements to the existing systems to include (but not limited to) utilizing alerting and monitoring tools such as Site Scope and Log File Adpaters (LFAs).
=> Proactive problem prevention.
=> Ongoing production support activities including on-call responsibilities.
=> Optimization of existing applications/code to run more efficiently and reduce costs.
=> Cross training with other members of the team to share or gain new knowledge across all applications and services.
=> Extensive interaction within the team and other Information Technology departments.
Experience Required: Expert knowledge and experience with any of the following is requiried: Java, J2EE, EJB, XML, and SQL.
