Projects:

Reinsurance area at Travelers is using Ab Initio software tool to Extract, Transform and Load data for a majority of the new applications on its roadmap. Some of the applications are Reinsurance Financial Reporting, Reinsurance Operational Data Store, and Reinsurance Account Receivable/Account Payable, etc. Oracle is main target databases. Some sources are Oracle, DB2, mainframe etc.

Job Description:

This full-time position will perform the following tasks:

Maintain and enhance ETL environments (DEV, TEST, QA and PRODUCTION); monitor and ensure environment stability;
Troubleshoot ETL production issues and provide solution for issue fixes;
Analyze customer requirements, design and construct ETL processes via Ab Initio and other software tools with reliable error/exception handling and rollback procedures;
Assist Project managers and QA team to create/implement test plan; Assist project managers to create application deployment plan and production implementation plan;
Assist/guide other ETL developers (e.g. contractors) in optimizing Ab Initio job performance; assist enforcing ETL best practices/ principles and departmental standards/procedures;
Document coding and design activities for ETL processes;

Experiences:

Ideal candidate will have hands-on Ab Initio ETL experience. Candidates with experience on other ETL tools will be considered.

1) 2+ years of hands-on Ab Initio experiences in data integration projects for building production Data Warehouse/Data Mart and other business intelligence systems are required; Familiarity with all Ab Initio software components (GDE, EME, Co>Operating systems and Conduct>It etc) is required. Experiences with parallel job design and development using multi-file systems are preferred; Experience with complex Ab Initio job performance tuning for large volume data is preferred; Experience with other ETL tool (e.g. DataStage, Informatica etc) is a plus;

2) Good Unix/Linux scripting experience is required;

3) Proficiency in SQL query writing is required. Familiarity with Oracle Database is preferred. Experience with other databases (Teradata, SQL Server etc) is a plus; Understanding dimensional vs. relational data modeling concepts is preferred;

4) Must be a quick learner with strong problem solving skills; must have a passion to work with and to learn new business intelligence tools;

5) Requirement analysis experience is required. Must possess strong communication skills; must be a team player;

6) Experience in financial services industry is a plus.
