Summary
Provide a high level of technical and quantitative support to actuarial staff to achieve company objectives for profitability and growth. Assist in management reporting, monthly financial reporting, quarterly loss reserve reviews and other actuarial research by applying statistical concepts. May assist in implementing actuarial decisions and strategies. Responsible for projects requiring advanced statistical analyses, actuarial research, mathematical calculations and technical skills. Direct projects that have significant financial impact and may present to senior level management.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with and possibly coordinate monthly financial reporting. Communicate prior and current year actuarial decisions to affected financial partners. Create monthly financial reports.
Will likely execute actuarial indications in financial reporting system.
Conduct quarterly General Liability and Professional Liability reserve review analyses. Interpret data, identify trends and offer recommendations. Communicate results and their implications to affected business centers.
Coordinate quarterly reserving reporting for General Liability and Professional Liability.
Participate in periodic peer reviews with Corporate Actuarial. Participate in periodic Audit reviews of actuarial processes.
Participates in or is responsible for advanced projects.
Provide assistance to less experienced staff.
Education / Work Experience
Generally 5 to 8 years of insurance experience.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and solid understanding of financial reporting.
Effective communication skills to multiple business partners, including non-actuaries.
Strong knowledge of insurance products and operations.
Demonstrated ability in actuarial and quantitative analysis and statistical concepts.
Strong project managment skills.
College degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, finance, statistics or equivalent. Excellent understanding of computers, programming, Excel spreadsheets, Word and database software.
