The Technical Development Program is designed to prepare highly-motivated college graduates for a technology career at Travelers. The program can be tailored to emphasize software development, systems analysis, business intelligence, operations or a combination of functional technology areas. The program focuses on developing participants- strengths and interests by offering a curriculum that includes training in cutting-edge technologies, insurance and leadership, along with supporting on-the-job assignments. Qualified candidates should be self-starting, energetic and creative individuals interested in beginning their IT career in a challenging and fast-paced environment that offers opportunities for growth and personal success.

Rotational Opportunities
The Technical Development Program is a multi-year program with a series of rotations that increase in complexity in technology and business, depending on prior work experience. A typical rotation is 9-12 months in length.

Training and Development
Program participants take part in a framework for career development, which provides the information and support necessary to build their technical, business, and leadership skills quickly. Participants also engage in mentoring, networking and career guidance activities.

Program Competencies
The Technical Development Program builds a number of job competencies, including:

- Technical knowledge: Competency in a variety of technologies and technical roles.

- Business knowledge and partnership: Collaboration and communication with team members and business partners.

- Problem-solving and decision-making: Recognition and analysis of problems and developing timely, practical and cost-effective solutions.

- Team orientation: Relationships with peers to achieve objectives, while putting the success of the team above their own interests.

- Leadership: Initiative and accountability.

- Planning: Organizational and time-management skills.

Requirements
Participants should hold an undergraduate degree in computer science, computer or electrical engineering, information technology, management information systems or mathematics with a minor in information technology. A minor in business administration is a plus.

Additional requirements include:
- Passion for technology and business
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or greater
- Prior internship or work experience
- Motivation to succeed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and analytical skills
- Extracurricular involvement
- Legally eligible to work in the United States

Locations
The program is offered in Hartford, Conn., and Saint Paul, Minn..
