VP and Chief Actuary - Personal Insurance

Summary
Personal Insurance is seeking a senior executive to work directly with the Personal Insurance senior team to drive the evolution of its actuarial group. This position oversees all actuarial functions including pricing/ratemaking, reserving, financial modeling & forecasting and will be an integral part of the strategies and execution that are needed for each to achieve the company objectives for profitability and growth. This position will also require innovative thinking and leadership driving the latest actuarial and product approaches as well as drive the strategic vision to leverage data, information, foundational analytics as well as analytic tools/applications for optimal business processing and critical decision making. This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Personal Insurance Business Intelligence and Analytics (BI&A) and will lead a staff of approximately 25 people.

This role will be part of the Personal Insurance BI&A senior team while being accountable for leading, managing, mentoring, and developing the teams responsible for creating an information and business intelligence advantage for the Personal Insurance organization.

This person will develop a strategic plan, including business initiatives, analytic tools and insights as well as technical investments. Working closely with key partners like MI, IT, Product , Claim and Finance, this person will be accountable not only for thought leadership but also for the delivery of information and analytic tools/applications to Personal Insurance`s business customers.

Additional Key Accountabilities to include:
* Develop and maintain a culture by which information is integral to decision making
¬* Establish standards for technology and business processes within the organization
¬* Drive development and maintenance of actuarial best practices
¬* Ensure alignment with enterprise and business insurance information and analytic application strategy efforts
* Serve as the overall liaison with business sponsors and executives
¬* Create and maintain a proactive communications culture
¬* Facilitate the prioritization of projects and requirements among competing business interests
¬* Identify, communicate and mitigate project risks to stakeholders, and ensure teams have appropriate support to meet goals
¬* Secure and maintain funding for key initiatives
¬* Measure return on investment

Experience and Requirements
¬-15+ years of progressively responsible experience in actuarial related functions including but not limited to pricing, reserving, planning, financial reporting, management information, product development, reinsurance and data base management
-10+ years of demonstrated leadership in complex/matrix environments; ability to influence and build relationships across the enterprise
¬-Familiarity with actuarial and other insurance related models (e.g., GLM, CAT, ROE and RBC models); experience with predictive modeling initiatives a plus
-Experience in a mid to large size property casualty company preferred with solid understanding of Personal Insurance products
-Experience in managing multiple, complex, corporate wide projects
-Demonstrated strong decision making- strategic and critical thinking ability
-Concise and persuasive oral and written communication skills
-Solid analytical, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills to understand and anticipate the impact and opportunities across multiple critical projects
-Experience in developing working relationships with and providing advice and counsel to top business and technical executives
¬-Bachelor's degree required and FCAS preferred
