Location: San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, California areas
This is a home based position.

SUMMARY:
Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and resolve claims on losses of lesser value and complexity. Complete formal training program for consideration of advancement to claim representative position.Differences in settlement authority would be based on local discretion and product line guidelines.
Provide outstanding customer service.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Inspect automobiles and motorcycles to determine the nature and extent of damages.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Prepare damage estimates using company provided automated estimating systems.

Evaluate damages through proper use of cost-containment tools. Recognize subrogation and salvage opportunities, as well as potential fraud and refer to the appropriate level.

Complete auto appraisals to assure accurate assessment of the damage.

Handle auto physical damage claims on first and third parties in compliance with company best practices and within authority.

Negotiate and settle all claims in a timely manner to minimize and mitigate costs such as storage fees.

Assist the auto/liability unit with investigation and gathering all necessary information, i.e. police reports, site inspections, to determine if claim should be paid or denied.

Comply with all insurance department regulations and applicable laws within assigned jurisdiction.

Periodically, re-inspect vehicles to assure repair shop compliance with company standards and to determine the quality of repair performed.

Assist in special projects.

Participate in on-going training sessions for specific line of business.

Provide voice-to-voice contact within 24 hours of first report. Obtain facts from insurers, injured workers, claimants, agents, witnesses, attorneys and/or underwriters. Maintain contact throughout the life of the file, as needed.

Determine coverage/ compensability, facts of loss and degree of liability/exposure.

Work closely with Unit Manager or mentor to promptly resolve claim issues.

Refer claims as appropriate, based on exposure and established guidelines.

Maintain quality claim files in accordance with appropriate best practices, recognize and implement alternate means of resolution.

Provide customer service contact to give, receive or exchange information.

EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:
College degree or equivalent business experience preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Solid keyboard and PC skills, with experience in Word and Excel.
Proficient use of technology; including, Microsoft Word, Excel, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.

Complete 12-month Auto Appraiser Training Program

Sales or Customer Service Experience a plus
